What makes it different
- Government data, cited inline
- Every figure carries its source (FRED, Census ACS, BEA, state DOIs) and its vintage. If you can’t see where a number came from, we didn’t use it.
- No affiliate arrangements
- Insurance and mortgage lead generation pay well; taking them would turn this into an ad funnel. We don’t. This tool exists to be trusted, not to be monetized.
- Honest about what we don’t know
- Where public data is thin — homeowners insurance is the classic case — we show a range and explain the range. False precision would defeat the whole point.
- Written in plain English
- Domicile, residency, the midnight rule, statutory tests — explained the way a friend who does this for a living would explain them.
